Synopsis: Peter Jackson produces this science-fiction film, with directorial debut of Neill Blomkamp. District 9 takes place in Johannesburg, South Africa where a extraterrestrial race is forced to live in slum-like conditions on Earth that find unexpected help from a government agent that is accidentally exposed to their biotechnology.

Review: The film style flowed like documentary with sound byte comments settings the scenes and giving solid commentary all through the film. The CGI work was excellent to say the least and that alone was worth the ticket price.

The story is fairly original and it takes a big risk in the way its told, an surprising it manages to stay fresh and powerful throughout entire film.

District 9 is in no way just another aliens vs humans flick, if it wasn’t for the space ship in the background this film could be about any slum and the people who prey on it’s inhabitants. The film does cover the worst of what we humans can be and director Neill Blomkamp didn’t shy away from the brutal violence.

A solid 9/10
